I rode my Salsa Casseroll on top of the drops for two years but recently drank lethal koolaid and assembled this with an 8 yr old Atlantis frame.

Cork / shellac grips on and then tape / shellac / hemp twine about 6 - 7 inches beyond that. This offers a good forward position to place hands during much of my daily 18 rt work commute. FYI I also appreciate the cheapo ($18) Origin 8 brake levers. They're 4-5 finger and you can really grab a handful. I have 3 and 4 finger Tektros but prefer these.
