Another strong fender recommendation here! I just recently built up my 60cm Sam with 50mm wide SKS chromoplastics and they cover 700x38 tires *very* well width-wise. They are not terribly long but are plenty long if you are going to add mudflaps anyway. My guess is the 45mm ones from RBW would do okay too, width- wise. And I'm pretty sure they're longer.
The 50mm ones are for some reason significantly more $$... about $45 from AEBike on the web. If you get them, make sure to get the ones labelled "hybrid" or "700c"; they also have 26" ones that would be too- ooo short. Ask me how I know. Enjoy!
