Hi Kent. I believe that it would depend on where you normally position your hands on your drop bars. If you normally ride on the flats or the corners, then yes, the Moustache bars will let you lengthen out. If you normally ride on the hoods, then the Moustache bars most likely won't (unless you currently use a very short-reach set of drops). I've measured the bar-stem dimensions I have on two of my bikes, when initially setting them up. On my Moustache-equipped Quickbeam, the distance from the center of the stem-handlebar intersection to a point in-line with the forward-most part of the hooks is about 9.5 cm. On another bike I have, which is outfitted with the Nitto Jitensha Rando drop bars, the distance from the center of the stem-bar intersection to the point in-line with the top of the hoods where I normally ride is 13 cm. The top tubes lengths of my bike differ, which comes close to making up the difference. So, the Moustache bars alone won't necessarily extend your reach. However, if you want to try them (and I love mine!), then a longer stem will help you out. Also, you can lower the bar height a little, which will also extend their distance from you. Good luck!
