Personally I am huge fan of the GK. I like the fact that they do not grip as
much as studded pedals do. It allows me to make subtle shifts of my feet
without having to "lift" them up. Something that is tough to do
with gnarly spikes. They definitely grip enough for me. I ride them in rain
and shine and never felt like I wanted more grip. I have tried studded
pedals in the past but prefer the Gripkings more subtle grip.
In terms of comfort I rate them very high. I completed a 300k brevet on them
without any foot discomfort at all. I wore some rather thin soled shoes as
well. I wear a size 12 shoe in normal to wide widths depending on model. The
key thing to maximize the pedals width is to wear shoes without a "bumper"
zone around the shoe - meaning a shoe where the sole's footprint is no wider
than the upper.
I like the width on the GK and find it more then enough - It works well when
riding the bicycle in fixed mode as well.

Hope this helps.
