I say if the $1000 difference is manageable, the Atlantis is the way. At times I'd recommend the AHH, but if some touring or offroad is the plan, the Atlantis can't be beat for maximum versatility. It's my oldest Rivendell (from 2001), and it's (metaphorically) that best old friend with whom you're never, ever in danger of losing contact. I've discovered and rediscovered several times how great the Atlantis is. First off, road touring set-up in 2001. A couple years later, it was high-bar Moustache and acted as my car essentially for half a year. It became my offroad overnighter in 2004. Bullmoose revolutionized it for awhile. And just the other day it became dirtdrop supreme - good offroader AND commuter with high dirtdrop bar and stem and Pasela 700x37's. This may be the ideal setup. I'll send photos tonight.
