Thanks for the tip Karl! Those look nice but currently no ear flaps in 
stock. I'm pretty close to Portland so I'll have to check out Rivelo 
sometime soon. RandiJo <https://www.randijofab.com/> is also localish and 
they just released their new line of caps

flaps and not. They look great and I just ordered two, stoked to support 
small-scale craftsmen/women making quality goods. 

Patrick, on the Oregon coast our precipitation generally does not freeze 
and so I am concerned with keeping it out (I know, wool is wicking...until 
it's soaked). I do see your point, I have a waxed canvas Filson hat that 
can become a moisture trap on hot days, but our hot days are limited and 
the RandiJo caps have a lining that I imagine will be effective at limiting 
bogginess.
