Aha. That may explain the difference in your experience. I'm almost 30 lb
heavier, and I'm pretty sure that the tubing on my customs is not as
thinwall (Chauncey Matthews came by to pick up the '99 Joe Starck frame --
f/f/hs -- for alteration. He lifted it and said, "Huh. Not so light.") But
damn, that bike just feels fast, and it has been surprising me in that way
for coming on to 20 years next April. Light wheels, certainly, but I'm
convinced that fit/position/geometry has a effect. (The '99 Joe is 18.1 lb
on a digital scale with conventional parts.)
