Not a fan of batteries. Batteries are, in general, a nasty, dirty, environmentally damaging technology. Many of them are made of carcinogenic and/or poisonous materials (lead, cadmium, etc.) You really don't want to drink ground water that come from the vicinity of a battery manufacturing plant. The electricity used to charge the batteries can come from burning coal (although cruciferous vegetable fueled dyno powered emissions can be fairly obnoxious). I prefer dyno powered lights.
