On my primary allrounder/commuter I have dynamo wheel and lights.  Here are 
the reasons I like the dynamo:

1) If you ride it every day it's just one more thing you don't have to 
worry about. I'm also not "saving" my battery charge for when it's "really 
dark."
2) Battery lights don't work very well in the cold. I had too many battery 
lights die on me on dark winter nights.
3) Three words: Daytime Running Lights. I'm pretty sure the always-on 
lights on my IQ Fly have saved me from several left hooks. 

Instead of having a fancy custom-made dynamo wheel I ordered mine from 
Germany, where everyone is required to run lights on their bikes. It's 
sturdy and utilitarian, but you won't win any races with the extra weight 
and drag of any dynamo system.
