It seems to me that after the heyday of lightweight aluminum bikes with their large diameter tubing, people (bike people anyway) went one direction or another: "forward" to CF or "backward" to steel. Around that time, I heard (well, actually read), someone — perhaps Georgiana Terry — say "steel is real" and I read about its "forgiving nature", and I was sold on steel bikes. I just wish they weren't so heavy;-).
