I'm still on the fence with the long chainstays Rivendell is making just
because I haven't ridden them yet. I have high hopes for my coming
Appaloosa though, so I will reserve mention on the chainstay length.

What I really want in a custom is a canti post mixte frame that can take at
least 2.2 inch tires and haul my butt around on fire roads, gravel trails,
and singletrack mtb trails (the more buff kind, not the dh course at
worlds) I'd actually rather have 29 er wheel size, but that is because all
my current mtb's are 29ers and I get along with that size really well on my
local trails. I'm a rather short dude, rode a 53 Roadeo, Atlantis, and a
48cm Hillborne and they all fit me well so if it turns out 650b is the
better choice I will happily go with that...Grant would have that decision.
I would not want 26" tires though...that size is dead for mtb now and tire
choice is limited. It will only get worse in the future, unfortunately. I
would also like the wheels to be tubeless because that is what I run when
trail riding. I used to have numerous flats on my tubed tires until I went
tubeless; now flats only happen maybe once a year. Plus, lower tire
pressure without worrying about pinch flats. It's a total win.

The reason for the mixte frame is standover height. Sometimes you just got
to plop out of the saddle onto the ground on the trails and it's always
better when there isn't a bar to come in contact with. Plus, I don't, and
have never owned a mixte. I need to remedy that. Canti posts because
v-brakes and cantis are more powerful and easier to deal with large tires
compared to sidepulls.

I would want the fancy lugs, Rivendell downtube decal, and that awesome
headbadge, just because they are really nice looking. color - first choice
would be a really nice looking purple. Second choice would be some sort of
butterscotch.

The silver low double crank Riv has would be a great crank to use on an mtb
focused machine.

Bars? Maybe choco moose bars or just the bullmoose bars. Either one would
be fine.

paul brake levers, brakes (touring cantis or even motolites).
Shifting...man, index shifting would be helpful with the ridiculous rolling
hills we have locally. If I can get it to work with indexed in the back and
friction for the front I would call that a win.
