Interesting you say 40 miles, Steve. It was at that distance that I noticed my hands getting massively fatigued (Sam/Albas/Tallux max height/max aft). And that was when riding solo at my own pace. Cork grips are hard as rocks. That's when I found that out. But I don't think it was really the grips. Because I would get marks in my hands from upright riding and I could always feel the pressure on my hands at any bar height with uprights.
