Shape is also important, especially when you have a fat head. I have 
endured poor fitting helmets for years. I live in Florida, but have spent 
most of the last two years in the Seattle area for work. No luck finding 
one in Seattle either, so I drove down to Portland. First I went to 
Universal cycles and tried on everything and found one helmet that was big 
enough, but the salesman said it did not fit correctly and refused to sell 
it to me. He told me I needed a Bishop and gave me a list of other bike 
shops to try. I tried them and at the 4th one I found an XXL Bishop that 
fit perfectly, something I had never experienced. I cannot remember the 
name of the shop but they had restored classic old lugged steel racing 
bikes from the Campy NR/SR era hanging from the ceiling. Made me regret 
selling the Masi again, but now I have a helmet that actually fits.
