I would likely take a geared bike if I was going anywhere with significant climbs. I'm a fair weather/flat land SS'er. B-)
I haven't had it out on the fixed side yet--my winter fitness level is pathetic and the weather here is yucky. But the 16t cog/40t ring combo is really close to the fixed gear ratio I've happily run on past bikes, at just a bit over 65 gear inches. I've also got a 42t ring in the parts box if I decide I want to work a little harder. Looks nice! That 32x19 might come in handy if you ever tour on it and face a difficult climb. I *rarely* shift over to mine (same set-up) and we have some pretty steep climbing here. I was thinking of a 15t fixed cog on the other side - how do you like the 16? Too much spinning? Esteban San Diego, Calif.
