I would likely take a geared bike if I was going anywhere with significant 
climbs.  I'm a fair weather/flat land SS'er.  B-)

I haven't had it out on the fixed side yet--my winter fitness level is pathetic 
and the weather here is yucky.  But the 16t cog/40t ring combo is really close 
to the fixed gear ratio I've happily run on past bikes, at just a bit over 65 
gear inches.  I've also got a 42t ring in the parts box if I decide I want to 
work a little harder.

Looks nice!  That 32x19 might come in handy if you ever tour on it and
face a difficult climb. I *rarely* shift over to mine (same set-up)
and we have some pretty steep climbing here.

I was thinking of a 15t fixed cog on the other side - how do you like
the 16?  Too much spinning?
