Hello Chris, I have a 1x7 on Salsa Casseroll, works great. My advise would be to have the chain ring align with the center cog. That way the chain deflection is minimized. Also try to use a chain ring size which would work with the center cog to give you a comfortable cruising gear. This way you have an even division of higher and lower gears from it. I'm using a 14-34 cassette and a 44 chain ring.
