2009 was not a banner year for me. It brought me my second cataract
surgery (the first eye was done in 2008), detached retinas in both
eyes, then the growth of scar tissue over my left retina that required
invasive surgery for removal. The vision in my left eye may never be
completely right again. Add in family obligations, a couple of
business trips, a week's vacation with my wife, passing a stone on
Pearl Harbor Day (OW-OW-OW-OW-OW!) with subsequent UT infection, and a
cold and I haven't ridden 200 miles total since October. Plus, my
best buddy/riding partner of the last twenty years has just moved out
of state. I'll miss my regular rides with him in the coming year.

My cycling-related goals for 2010 are:
To get back on the road starting tomorrow
To start commuting again once weather permits
To get back enough fitness to hang with the local cycling club
To get fit enough to handle a full century (for the first time in 15+
years!)
To join the NorCal Riv/Kogswell riders for a Marin mixed terrain ride
To explore the unpaved roads in the Stanislaus river canyon between
Columbia and Twain Harte
To sell off a couple of bikes that aren't being ridden, and ride the
heck out of the ones I keep!

Happy New Year and good health to all!
