I also agree that the Romulus is great with Jack Brown Greens. But
I'll voice a slightly contrary opinion here: in my experience the
Romulus comes alive with tires in the 26-28 mm range. The handling is
sprightly and responsive, and the bike climbs better than it does with
wider tires.

As comfortable and cushy as the Jack Browns are, I find that they
deaden the handling and make the Romulus feel a little sluggish,
especially on climbs. If comfort rather than speed is your thing, then
the JBs are your tire. But if you can sacrifice a smidge of comfort
for speed, the Romulus really sings with tires approximately 27mm.

Among my favorite 27mm offerings are the following:

Michelin Pro Race 25mm (actual 27mm)
Rivendell Roll-y Pol-y 28mm (actual 27mm)
Challenge Parigi-Roubaix 27mm (actual 28mm)

WIth any of those, the Romulus really cooks on road, provided the
pavement is not too pock-marked and choppy. If the pavement is crappy,
then yes, by all means the JB Greens are the way to go.
