Albatross on my Atlantis. Have done 60 miles on them without a major problem. As others mention, the lack of many hand positions can be the limiting factor. Mine are taped in front of the levers so there are two positions available.
And my Brompton has upright bars. Did a 40+ mile ride on that bike this summer. In San Diego. Am sure jealous of that weather right now<g>. Last week, built up a Surly Long Haul Trucker and had flat bars installed. Rode it for 25 miles today without a problem. Well, except for the cold weather (22F when heading out with about a 10 mph headwind). The bars are 2 or more inches above the saddle height. Am not a fast rider by any means. Don't mind being less aerodynamic. Enjoy looking at the scenery more.
