Patrick, my working theory is that (for me) raw cotton tape longevity is limited by sweat. It would be fair to say that your testing would be generally in drier and cooler air that in north Texas, right? I think I've decided that I prefer shellac for my use, but I'm still quite interested in the results of your testing.
