This morning I switched to a shorter stem on my QB, finally (I think, the proof
is in a longer ride) getting it dialed in. Pro tip: remove gummy before sliding
handlebars into stem or suffer mightily for your laziness!

In unwrapping my top layer of raw cotton tape, I discovered an experiment I’d
forgotten about. The under layer of cotton tape was a two layer shellac I’d had
on for three months before covering it with the raw. I’ve had my raw cotton top
layer on for over a year now. They looked equally worn/weathered, and the raw
cotton was slightly less grimy. Fascinating! Plus, cheep Scot that I am, I
reused the top raw cotton tape, wrapping it as the now single layer. Now
testing to see how long it lasts!

With abandon,
Patrick
