mine is setup for this (though i use mine for errands), personally i rarely switch at the cranks so that depends on your own riding style. i'm more of freewheel as opposed to fixed so i use the WI duo-fw.
i do have bolt-on hubs and the only issue is to make sure you have the keys to loosen/tighten the wheel on the bike. i've had 1-2 occassions that i went out for a ride, forgot my toolkit and had the rear wheel come loose. it's not a big deal if you're on the trail because you can flag down someone and borrow their multi-tool but just one thing to keep track of. the only other decision i think you need to think about is tires, not sure why but i feel like i can't get anything bigger than around a 40mm tire, but i've seen a few pictures of someone that got a 50mm in there!
