I forgot to respond to your axel and gearing questions. -- 32/40 is what mine is, standard with the final silver run. -- I run WI's 16/19 duo FW and love it. I only use the 32/19 (uphill) and 16/40 combos. I have a 22t on the flip/flop as my mountainous bail out gear or for when I aim up Pikes Peak. -- I have a Phil Wood track hub and it is allen wrench not QR, and I have no issues with it. Because of where I live, I'm shifting at least once on nearly every route I ride (sometimes 3-4 or more shifts). -- Gearing works brilliantly. I've done up to 90+ miles on all country dirt roads with fairly extensive climbing and not touched the 22t flip-flop. But that is with maybe 15 pounds of day gear/water, so a lightish load vs. touring.
