One thing that I've been noticing a lot recently is that I really prefer how my 
sidepull bikes (or V brakes) make it less likely that my handlebar bag is going 
to interfere with my brake cables.

The exposed canti cable is often leaned on by a full handlebar bag and it can 
be annoying. I believe there are solutions to this, but I like not dealing with 
it on the bikes with sidepulls.

Since you could have a Hillborne with V brakes, maybe this doesn't help you 
decide.
