Any consensus here on Public Bikes? They are super cheap at under $500. My wife has their step through which she uses for around town stuff, and for the price and her occasional use I think its perfect. I kind of thought about their single speed diamond frame for an around town bike before scoring a Quickbeam. They also have cheap pletscher style racks and wald baskets. I can't comment on how they are for longer rides, but a mile or two here or there is pretty damn comfy. I'm sure there's some crazy back story or gotcha with them I'd rather not hear.
