I think my SimpleOne came with a 107 tange bottom bracket. I am using an
old suntour track crank and changed the bb to a 108 phil so I could easily
get the chain line just right. That's not an issue with normal 8/9 speed
chains, but I am using 1/8th inch chain cog and ring and I had some
crunching before I changed to the phil bb.

When I first got a fixed/ss bike many years ago I was living in SE Michigan
which I think is similar to NE Ohio with respect to flat. Meaning a freeway
overpass counts as a climb. I think you will probably be fine with just one
ring, and probably would be happy with a single cog for that matter.

Congrats on a great acquisition, I predict you are going to have a lot of
fun with it.
