I did with this with my "all rounder" bike, a Handsome Devil, about 3 years ago and have not looked back. With a 36t crank and an 11-36 9 speed cassette I have the range I need for getting around my hilly neighborhood with out fussing with a FD. I bought a Paul's "chain keeper" but have never mounted it as I have never had an issue with the chain dropping. Enjoy.
