Not quite. If you are using STI and you have gotten unlucky, the
fragments of the broken cable end and shards of cable will be stuck in
the tiny gears inside the STI unit, and if you are lucky a mechanic may
be able and willing to disassemble the unit and spent 2 or 3 hours
messing around with it and might be able to fix it. Otherwise, you may
end up having to buy an entire new STI assembly.
