If you want to do something different, I just got back from a camping trip with newly installed Paul Motolites. The brakes stopped under load (about 75 to 80 pounds of gear with 165 pounds of me) well. Using drops so brake levers are Cane Creek V Levers. Tektro and Dia- Compe also make drop bar V and mechanical disc compatible levers. I did not experience any squeaking. Motolites - for me anyway - are somewhat difficult to set up. No maintenance problems on the ride at all.
