Thanks, Tony. The niche theory is exactly how I approached this bike. Five years ago I was saving for an Atlantis, but, well, the expense failed to pass the household finance committee. I picked up the LHT instead. Except for being a size too small, I've pretty much got it dialed in now. I don't like riding it with people in the country, though; I can't keep up on hills. Homer will be exactly what RBW says it is: a country bike. (Just how much "country" it will see in the short term is unclear. The Iowa River and watershed are conducting their apparently now-annual visit to adjacent low-lying areas, including some favorite riding routes.) Re CC + Double-Double: a lovely bike. Fast, climbs well, looks good. I use the 38-35 chainring, which WI recommends for 26 in. MTB applications. Gives me gears around 65 in. for most riding and 50 in. for trails or—before I picked up the Pugs—winter. I have it set up with Albastache bars and the much-discussed-of-late Tektro CR720 brakes. Were I in the market for a similar bike right now, though, I might go with the new Soma Wolverine. Slightly more tire clearance, if I interpret Soma's description correctly. Re non-aero levers: both comfort and aesthetics here. The only aero brake levers I've used that I find comfortable for my smallish hands are the Tektro levers for V-brakes; obviously not an option on the Homer. I have the same Dia-Compe levers on the CC with Albastache and find them much easier to pull than the stock Tektros on the LHT. I also like the non-aero look. (Jared made a gentle attempt to talk me out of these levers, but I resisted.) -- Bob -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
