You're probably right I've only owned 6 steel cross bikes over the years: 2 Independent Fabrications, 2 Bianchis, an Interloc and an Ibis. All 6 sloping top tubes and all had steel unicrown forks but my sample size is definitely small.
The other monster cross I like is the Black Mountain MUSA monstercross, and that most certainly does have a crowned fork, along with room for 45s, at $1700. Now a Legolas with 700x38s sounds pretty hot as well....
