What a great looking bike and a great addition to the Riv line. I was at my "local" Borders last night reading bike magazines and the only conclusion that I can come to is that the biking industry has lost its mind. I actualy feeI badly for people trying to get into cycling and the Everest of misinformation they face. I cite two things (I forget which mags they come from) 1) In a scientific test (at least sorta), attempting to isolate all other factors, a modern carbon "superbike" saved the average pro cyclist 18 seconds in a 3 km uphill time trial vs a 25 year old steel bike. That doesnt even take into account the riders' inexperience with the older technology ( downtubes, brakes, etc). What would the difference be on the Roadeo? 5 seconds? less? Would there even be a difference for a non-pro? 2) The new Pinarello Dogma is listed at $17,900 in the review. That is right, almost 20 grand. I though their last stupidbike, I mean superbike, was overpriced and that was about 1/3 less! Who buys these things? Is there a bike bubble?
It is great to see Riv, and Specialized for that matter, inject a little sanity into the market by offering a beautiful, well crafted, machine for all us normal cyclists who think that there are worse things than being on our bikes for an extra few seconds. And here is to hoping, through some miracle of miracles, that a Roadeo ends up at my house. Cheers! cm --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
