<<Actually, I think a good layer of Filson wax makes the bag a bit more water-repellant. Follow the directions - clean bag, work the stuff in and then use a heat gun or hair dryer to work it into the fabric thoroughly. Make sure you hit the stitched areas thoroughly. Should work fine. >>
Jim: Why didn't I think of Filson wax? Just scrub the heck out of the bag and re-wax. Brilliant. For what it's worth, a friend who is a bit of a Filson junkie uses a heat gun to apply Filson wax, then throws the garment in the cloths dryer on the regular heat setting. After about 15 minutes the wax melts and uniformly absorbs throughout the fibers giving a factory-like result. Two precautions: (1) He checks the garment every 5 minutes and yanks it the moment the wax melts/ penetrates. (2) He claims the melted wax does not rub off on the dryer interior, but I'm not sure. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
