I ride skinny expensive tires, and not only that, but on small diameter
rims: 571 X 23 Conti Grands Prix and Specialized 26X1" (actual width 22 mm)
Turbos on narrow, semi-aero Sun M14A and ME14A rims. Both are supple,
particularly the Turbos, though the Contis are more sensitive to pressure --
too high and they'll be rougher than the Turbos at the same pressure. But
each feels surprisingly soft over small bumps like eroded pavement and small
asphalt cracks. I noticed that the 700C X 28 mm (actual) tires on the
Motobecane do bridge larger gaps -- expansion cranks for example -- better,
but are not any smoother over small irregularities.

I haven't done any rigorous testing, but both the Contis and Turbos at about
90 -- 95 front and 100 rear feel smoother than 559X32 mm Paselas at 80/90 --
and for some reason, I have fixed fewer flats on the skinnies. And the
Paselas feel slower, though that may be an illusion. And while I might be
comparing apples to oranges, in that the Paselas are probably
proportionately over inflated, I did definitely notice that the Paselas are,
at least on my Rivs, much more sensitive to underinflation: even a bit too
little and they feel mushy and the front starts to flop.

(Note that the weight difference between the skinnies, at about 200 gr each,
is not much, since the Paselas with kevlar beads weigh 240 grams.)
