I actually enjoy doing long distance fixed gear riding.  it's like
having a built in pacing mechanism.  and, unless the terrain is really
hilly, my finishing times aren't substantially different as when i
ride geared bikes - usually about an hour, give or take.

I'm 30, and usually the youngest rider at most brevets I've ridden.
