That brings them up to par with 1980s Suntour technology. :-)

Suntour's top-mounted downtube shifters did that.

There is a cam mechanism inside that moves the left shifter axis a tiny
amount up or down depending on the position of the right shifter. They did
not work with standard braze-on downtube shifter bosses.
