The seat tube angle on the RB's was steep compared to Riv's current
offerings, at least in my frame sizes. My 56cm RB-2 has a 73 ST,
whereas my 57cm Romulus has 72.

So by the butt-back theory you're advancing, my Romulus should be the
more powerful bike. But it isn't; the RB-2 is. So this brings us back
to Jim Thrill's post as expressing the likely combination of factors:
"short chainstays, a steep seat tube, and probably low bars."
