Andy:

I would run a rag lightly moistened with oil inside the seat tube to  
get rid of any surface rust, then grease and insert the seat post.   
Maybe spray a little Boeshield or FrameSaver down the seat tube and  
into the top tube while the post is out--SF can get a little moist.
