That's a good point. Even when we know the total sampling frame and contact them all, we rarely see more than a 10% response rate. We often go on the assumption that whoever responded was a random selection (occasionally checked via phone interview) and if so, the overall estimates of ATTITUDES will be accurate. However, wanting to know how many could have responded is a different problem. Hm.
