Fernando funcionou o Rstudio, porém,
Solicitou que eu criasse uma library pessoal e criei, mas
vários pacote ficaram duplicados quando fiz:
update.packages(checkBuilt = TRUE, ask = FALSE)
E não consigo instalar o rgdal, apresenta o seguinte erro:
ERROR: configuration failed for package 'rgdal'
* removing '/home/santos-a/R/i686-pc-linux-gnu-library/2.15/rgdal'
Warning in install.packages :
installation of package 'rgdal' had non-zero exit status
Tem mais alguma coisa que eu poderia fazer?

A instalação funcionou, porém como fiz:
./configure
make
sudo make install
No diretório: santos-a@santosa-K43E:~/Documentos$ R-2.15.2
No terminal o R funcionou OK, mas quando instalei o Rstudio após
ele não funciona e acusa a seguinte mensagem:
R Not Found
R shared library (/usr/local/lib/R/lib/libR.so) not find. If this
is a custom build of R, was it build with the enable --R-shlib option
Eu teria que ter instalado a pasta em outro local?

1) Vc precisa conferir se os pacotes que vc diz serem
incompativeis com o R 3.0.1 são realmente incompativeis, ou se
falta alguma configuração (ou pacote) no seu sistema. Acredito
que a grande maioria dos pacotes seja compatível pois esse versão
já foi lançada há alguns meses.
2) Caso você veja que é realmente necessário instalar (e
_compilar_) a versão anterior (2.15.2), vc precisa antes ter
todas as ferramentas necessárias para a compilação (que
aparentemente não estão instaladas). Faça:
sudo apt-get install build-essential
sudo apt-get buil-dep r-base
E depois
./configure
make
sudo make install

O senhor já tentou instala-lo pelo central de aplicativos
Ubuntu ? Ao invés de baixa-lo em formato .tar.gz ?
Acredito que seja uma boa saída.
Tenho utilizado o RKWard, que utiliza o R 2.15. como base.
Este também esta disponível no Central de Aplicativos Ubuntu.
Caso não goste de usa um GUI para o R, também há
possibilidade de utilização diretamente no terminal.
Ctrl + Alt + t
depois simplesmente digitando : R
Espero que dê certo e tenha ajudado de alguma forma.
Caso dê erro, possivelmente deve-se verificar se o R 3.0 foi
totalmente removido.
