Hi,
I looked in the archives and saw that Will Saxon reported an issue with
scans taking too long. I am administering a small site where I have
similar issues. My system:
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
1GB RAM
netqmail with realrcptto, syncdir, mfcheck, qregex patches
clamav 0.84-2.sarge.6
qmail-scanner-queue.pl 1.25
dspam-3.4.9
about 10 users
Large mails apparently take a long time to finish scanning, and some
appear never to finish. Here was my system today, after I logged in for
the first time in about a week:
09:55:17 up 11 days, 20:01, 3 users, load average: 87.08, 86.94, 86.82
OUCH! I tried to run "top" or "ps fax" to see what was going on, but
they never showed anything. So instead, on a hunch, I ran "killall
clamscan", and here's the result:
09:59:44 up 11 days, 20:06, 3 users, load average: 40.82, 70.65, 80.83
10:00:08 up 11 days, 20:06, 3 users, load average: 26.89, 64.98, 78.68
10:00:40 up 11 days, 20:07, 3 users, load average: 16.29, 58.77, 76.18
10:01:27 up 11 days, 20:07, 3 users, load average: 7.69, 50.54, 72.57
10:02:04 up 11 days, 20:08, 3 users, load average: 3.94, 44.21, 69.51
10:03:35 up 11 days, 20:10, 3 users, load average: 0.91, 32.72, 63.09
10:06:05 up 11 days, 20:12, 3 users, load average: 0.07, 19.79, 53.67
10:25:00 up 11 days, 20:31, 4 users, load average: 0.02, 1.18, 16.58
I have also experienced having some emails delivered to my inbox several
times, probably because the SMTP-session times out after 5 minutes,
causing the delivering MTA to reschedule the delivery.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!
