Which is why I'm fairly sure the current machine is just getting
overloaded every now and then, but I'd like to be sure of that if
at all possible. I can get by until the new box is in place, no
problem. I just want to verify that the error is indeed resources.

If it's intermittent, it's virtually guaranteed to be resources. Add
more ram :)
