Tried to format the qcow with another windows version but vista/ longhorn?

Vista is well known for their problems on formatting step with a variety of emulators. In their developer's page they say to format the virtual disk first with XP for use of vista under VPC.

I can't go any further than formatting an 8Gb qcow image.

Vista complains it can't use it. I'm using a win32/mingw
home-made compilation. Vista needs at least 6.7Gb

Is this a 64 bits limitation on win32/mingw ? how can
we get past it ? suggestions are welcome

yesterday's snapshot of cvs is ok, minus the _commit fixes for win32/mingw
which are not yet inside the tar.bz2

I can see vista booting now...
