MinGW doesn't support largefiles yet so qemu can internally handle this (for example, qcow), but the physical file cannot be larger than 2GB on MinGW. Petition those guys to fix this. Cygwin has supported largefiles for some time now, but I don't know what the holdup is on MinGW.
