My very strong suspicion is that you are running into a similar problem with quoting that Avi reported in ticket #2141, and that what happens is that the changes string gets split incorrectly, so that what is sent to ruby-augeas are actually malformed commands. > I am sure it has something to do with the way I am using the index > searech ([.='/path']), but I am still working up an example to > demonstrate with.
