Thanks Charles...but under Control Center -> Look/Feel -> Fonts, I only 
see a check box for Anti-Aliasing...and no tabs. Hopefully someone out 
there knows how to accomplish font rendering in KDE.

I think (I'm not at my Linux box right now) you go
into the KDE Control Center | Look & Feel | Fonts and
somewhere in those tabs, I believe, is a place to
check a box to enable the sub-pixel hinting.
