Hi folk

1
The ODBC route
I've never tried this approach and am quite amazed at the speed and
results (positively)
However, in this instance, I've ended up with a 'cursor' which is full
of .NULL's, heaps of memo fields and just a few fields with numeric
data.
I guess I could try and make it work but a huge amount of work.

oWorkbook.SaveAs('&newfile',39)
Somewhere I must have picked up the code for SaveAs where 39
represents a specific version of Excel
I can't find it now. Some years ago I bought all the Hentzen stuff to
do with automation so I'll see if its in there.
Beats me why suddenly this routine gives it the xlsm extention. Thats
why I wonder if the vfp9-sp2 is a factor.

Tina, thanks for that but that gives me the Excel version which is not
the issue.
I want to determine the spreadsheet version
e.g. when you open an old spreadsheet with 2007 and straight away
close it, it wants to know if you want to save the changes. i.e it
knows you've done nothing but wants to know if you want to save it in
new version.

4
Steve, isn't my code to SaveAs exactly what you're suggesting?
Somehow, this is no longer working. Refer above

I'm sure I've already tried Craig Boyds routine but I'll try it again
I might even see if I can contact him direct and see if he can assist
