I remember 286 and XT's and they were a marvel then. Since every time qa new
processor comes out Microsoft find new ways of making them slower lol.
Interesting on the quads. It looks like a high end dual is best. But linux
is not an option.
As this is just serving data then 64 bit is an option. At least 64 bit can
use memory. Maybe 2009 server will be an option. Anyone using such a setup
for VFP data serving?

Netware if they wanted to pay for it, but I don't see that helping you now.

Just tossing your terms into google I am getting 64 bit on everything. I 
guess that is a starting point. Then RAID, error detection and 
correction, hot swapping and dare I say it, Linux.

If you ignore the reference to Dell, maybe this article about duals 
beating quads? Back in the day the server didn't need to be the fastest, 
maybe speed is still detrimental? Seems contradictory, but . . .
