Hi Dave, It is only Bob's theory of what Jesus wrote, however. I heard a sermon one time where the priest said he thought that Jesus wrote the name of a serious sin the man had committed at his feet, perhaps the man's most serious sin. That would have rattled anyone, Pharisee or otherwise. But it wouldn't have had to have been that to have the same effect. If Jesus wrote anything that only the man himself would have known the man would have seen Jesus for who He is. Why would Jesus write "STONE HER"? No, it was a more individual message for each of them. He wrote at least twice. Once in verse 6, then He spoke the words "He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her" in verse 7, then wrote again in verse 8. Then they left one by one beginning with the eldest? Why would He have to write twice to write "STONE HER"? Of course, some of them may have committed the same sin. And, once they went out, they didn't go very far because as soon as the woman is let go they are right back in his face. >> OK, nobody else bit on it. Time to reveal your "theory".
