I know what you mean. My rates are about the same as I was charging 10 years
ago and I'm going to have to lower them. And our economy officially went
into recession this morning - yay:( The last recession we had hit the
contract software development industry pretty hard - nigh on killed it. Cant
say I'm overly enthusiastic right now about things.

Mine have fallen since 10 years ago, <sigh> but they have held pretty  
steady over the last 5 or so. No telling what is going to happen now.  
Just like on 2000 +1 day, when all of those COBOL programmers became  
obsol, er "consultants" -- I think there will be a lot of new  
"consultants" out there over the next 18 months or so driving rates  
back into the toilet.

I'm not optimistic about the economy. I know it is hard to tell.
