The only time I've had both down is when some drunk took out the pole
across the street. And then my dialup would have been down, too. I'm
not sure I see the value of $120/year in a rare-as-hen's-teeth
occurrence. Both the DSL and the cable have been close to five-nines
reliability. The lights go out maybe once a month (especially with
thunderstorms this year!) but everything's on UPSes, knock wood, and
our longest downtime wasn't half-an-hour. It's a lot more likely I'll
mess something up and have someone on the leafe forums point out my
site is down :)

Can you use your cell as a modem? That gets rid of the telephone
dependency. Might be expensive when you need it, but in the long run
no more so than a $10 a month service you never use...

For me, an extended downtime and urgent client needs would be a good
excuse to drive into town to a coffee shop with wifi ;)
